Schools for Deaf and Blind Join Conversation with Judge Mashile

Deaf and Blind learners from 12 schools from different provinces in the country joined a virtual conversation with Judge Brian Mashile from the Mpumalanga High Court Division at an event dubbed, “If He Can do It, I can do It.”

“If He/She can Do it, I can Do It” is an initiative, aimed at inspiring people with disabilities to work hard in life. It kick-started on 7 September with Judge Mashile sharing his journey with learners from 12 schools for the Deaf and Blind and organisations that focus on the plight of people with different disabilities.

During the session, Mashile shared his life changing story that inspired many who had joined the conversation.

Mashile is the only blind Judge in the country. He lost his vision during his teen years before he wrote his Grade 10 exams. His life journey is changing the lives of people in the country, with some aspiring to work hard.

Launched by the Diary Series of Deaf People in conjunction with the JHB Society for the Blind, Tebza Productions, DeafSA and the South African National Association for Specialised Education (Sanase) the event will host similar events going forth.

A Deaf youngster, Charmane and famous dancer, Teboho Diphehlo known as “Tebza” showcased their dancing talent during the event. Tebza is the winner of Red Bull 2018, and he spent time taking Charmane through different dance moves.
